American Rare Earths (ASX:ARR) has been granted a licence, which will enable test mining to be conducted at the Halleck Creek Rare Earths Project in Wyoming, US.
The licence to explore by dozing allows for test mining, trenching, and exploratory excavation to be conducted. This includes collecting bulk material samples at the Cowboy State Mine project area within Halleck Creek.
Bulk samples are expected to provide feedstock for future pilot plant testwork at the recently acquired facility in Laramie, Wyoming. In turn, this enables American Rare Earths to refine processing techniques and optimise project design.
American Rare Earths, which has a market capitalisation of $136.73 million, says test mining will allow the company to procure the necessary volumes of ore to be processed at a pilot processing facility.
The company notes this is considered a critical step in refining processing pathways and advancing toward commercial development.
CEO Chris Gibbs says this approval is a testament to the team’s work and collaborative relationship built within the State of Wyoming.
“Bulk samples can allow us to advance to pilot plant testing and strengthen the technical foundation for the Cowboy State Mine at Halleck Creek,” Gibbs says.
“This is a critical step forward as we work to unlock the project’s full potential. We’re committed to continue our work responsibly while meeting the highest environmental and community standards.”
American Rare Earths is focused on developing the Halleck Creek Project, as well as other rare earths deposits in the US.
The company will be exhibiting at this year’s Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) event being held from 2-5 March in Toronto, Canada.
