The Association of Mining and Exploration Companies (AMEC) will be announcing the winners across six categories this week (5 December) at the 2025 AMEC Awards in Perth, Western Australia.
Held at the Crown Towers, AMEC is recognising the achievements in the mining and exploration industry over the past year. The categories recognise the industries commitment to the environment, diversity and inclusion, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, empowerment, community, and media.
For the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Empowerment Award, Blackrock Industries and Greatland Resources (ASX:GGP) are selected as the finalists.
Blackrock is nominated for their Second Chance of Change program which empowers incarcerated Aboriginal men through work, culture, and purpose, while Greatland is acknowledged for their Martu Business Development Program which supports creating pathways to economic independence for the Martu people.
For the Community Contribution Award, Fortescue (ASX:FMG), Heritage Minerals (CSE:HML), Larvotto Resources (ASX:LRV), and Metro Mining (ASX:MMI) have been selected as finalists.
AMETS’ Accelerated Women’s Leadership and Equity Program, Ausenco’s Employee Resource Groups, Hancock Iron Ore’s Vacation Care Program, and PLS (ASX:PLS) Women of Pilbara initiative have been nominated for the Diversity and Inclusion Award.
For the Environment Award, Vertex Minerals’ (ASX:VTX) low-impact responsible gold mining and Bellevue Gold’s (ASX:BGL) net-zero emissions achievements have been selected. Leichhardt Industrials’ science-led flora identification breakthroughs have also been selected for the Environment Award.
AMEC Chief Executive Warren Pearce says the awards provide the association with an opportunity to reflect, celebrate and acknowledge some of the excellence seen everyday in the exploration and mining industry.
“It’s more than just tonnes produced or grades discovered. It’s about people, purpose and progress,” Pearce says.
“To all finalists, you should be extremely proud of this recognition. We wish you good luck on the night and thank you for your contribution to our industry.”
AMEC is a national association representing more than 575 member companies from around Australia. Its members include explorers, emerging miners, producers, and a wide range of businesses and service providers.
