Valiant Gold’s (ASX:VAL) board has approved the company’s maiden drilling program at the Boomerang gold deposit, scheduled to commence in August 2026.
Phase A of the program has been greenlit — an initial 8,000m diamond drilling campaign designed to enhance confidence in the existing mineral resource estimate (MRE) and establish a platform for future resource growth.
Boomerang forms part of the Reedy Project and hosts an existing open pit and underground MRE of 5.26 million tonnes @ 2.17g/t gold (Au) for 367,000oz of Au.
Managing Director and CEO Brendan Tritton says Boomerang is the largest existing resource within Reedy and provides an ‘excellent’ opportunity for near-term production and resource growth.
“With an existing 367koz resource base, limited drilling below 150 metres across significant portions of the deposit, and mineralisation remaining open along strike and at depth, we believe Boomerang represents considerable near-term exploration upside,” Tritton says.
The deposit sits on an existing mining lease 45km south of processing infrastructure accessible via an ore purchase agreement with Westgold Resources (ASX:WGX).
Valiant says it expects first assays from the second quarter of financial year 2027.
Design and planning work has also commenced for phase B of the drilling program, which focuses on resource extension below the existing Kurara pits.
The company notes this phase targets more than 600m of strike length where previous drilling has been limited to shallow depths.
“The deposit’s size and favourable proximity to established processing infrastructure highlights its strategic importance within Valiant’s portfolio for a third potential mine for the company,” Tritton says.
The Reedy Project is a brownfields gold asset located in the heart of the Murchison Goldfield in Western Australia, sitting approximately halfway between Cue and Meekatharra.
Valiant Gold is an emerging gold company focused on unlocking value from proven Murchison assets.
