AIC Mines (ASX:A1M) has engaged RCT-Global’s Mt Isa branch to install the AutoNav system to a CAT R2900 XE Hybrid loader at the Eloise Copper Mine in northwest Queensland.
RCT Mt Isa Branch Manager Danny Ballard says the completion of the first installation sees AIC primarily using RCT’s technology across most of its fleet.
“This marks the first time the branch has worked with CAT’s Hybrid loader, presenting a new platform for innovation,” Ballard says.
AIC operators and maintenance staff have also undergone training of the new equipment.
As part of the company’s goal to enhance safety and productivity over shift changes, AIC intends to establish an automation centre on the surface to allow operators to work during blasting.
“It’s this ore body that positions AIC Mines to be a major player in the copper market for years to come, so it’s a good feeling knowing they will do this with RCT’s technology,” Ballard adds.
“RCT’s agnostic AutoNav solutions are designed to be scalable, allowing us to adapt to the evolving needs and demands of the site, both now and in the future.”
The AutoNav is a control system that allows mining operators to control a number of machines from a remote control center, reducing the need for staff to enter hazardous zones.
RCT’s technology has been deployed across a range of operations, with a New South Wales mine even transitioning to utilise a fully digital system in its production fleet of CAT 2900s, as reported by Mining.com.au.
