Advanced Navigation has appointed Pawel Michalak as CTO to assist in the company’s next phase of technological advancement.
Michalak is tasked with ensuring reliable navigation with an approach rooted in scientific resilience. The positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) architecture includes global expansion of engineering teams and powering new navigation capabilities for extreme and contested environments.
CEO Chris Shaw says Michalak’s arrival signals a new era in building tech that ensures the world’s most critical autonomous assets never lose their way, regardless of hostile environments.
“There was once a time where we could rely solely on satellite data for navigation, however that’s no longer the case. In today’s world, we need to treat signal anomalies, disruptions and unreliability as a given. This requires a fundamental shift in the way we go about building resilience and autonomy,” he says.
“It demands the discovery of new innovations, new architectures, and new ways of thinking. Pawel has the acumen to translate empirical research into breakthrough technologies for the real world, at speed.

Michalak holds a PhD in Satellite Geodesy, an MBA, and multiple postgraduate qualifications. He brings decades of experience in senior leadership, with driven technology strategy and large-scale digital transformation.
