Adavale Resources (ASX:ADD) has confirmed the presence of uranium mineralisation following an initial low-cost reconnaissance drilling program at its wholly owned Lake Surprise Project in South Australia.
The results, generated by 56 drillholes and 24 samples, demonstrate the presence of uranium mineralisation within a series of braided channels, which confirm the pre-drill interpretation that the area was part of a broad delta like fan system.
Adavale says uranium mineralisation was also intersected with associated gamma anomalies, indicating an increase in concentration of anomalous readings trending in a southerly direction within the company’s tenure.
The company adds drilling has confirmed the need to isolate the braided channel geometry in order to target ‘higher-grade’ mineralised zones.
Drilling was designed to penetrate the silcrete horizons and test a prospective zone in tenement EL5893, which was identified from previous exploration that demonstrated a helium anomaly, surface gamma anomaly, and rock chip data.
Commenting on the results, Adavale Resources Executive Director David Riekie says: “The results of this low-cost reconnaissance drilling program have provided significant technical data for Adavale to plan the next program. In particular, our technical team will now focus on the geometry of the braided channel system that is becoming evident as the concentration of uranium horizons and improved future targeting methods.

We will use this knowledge to plan geophysics to better map the target horizons and support future drilling. Drilling was cheaper than anticipated and demonstrated the broader paleochannel system is host to targeted uranium mineralised channels.”
The company also notes 24 samples were selected for chemical analysis based on pXRF and gamma log readings and produced a peak result of 87 parts per million (ppm) uranium, which highlights further potential towards the south of the project.
In addition, Adavale reports drilling was cheaper than anticipated due to the intersected paleochannel system being found to be much shallower than expected, with the deepest hole finishing at 18m. This resulted in the original aircore (AC) drill program, which was estimated to be about 4,500 drill metres conducted across 150 holes, being changed to a slim-hole reverse circulation (RC) hammer and being completed at a cost of about $70,000.
With results from the initial reconnaissance drilling program now received, Adavale Resources announces geophysics, including magnetics and resistivity, is being planned to cover the drilled area, as well as the Canegrass, Jubilee, and Mookwarinna prospects in order to calibrate the drill results achieved.
