Waste in. Fluorine out.
Mining.com.au joins ABx Group (ASX:ABX) Managing Director and CEO Dr Mark Cooksey at the ALCORE Technology Centre in Bell Bay, Tasmania.
Mark breaks down what is taking shape:
- Build: Pilot plant equipment is being manufactured and delivered
- Feed: Aluminium smelter by-product will be used to produce hydrogen fluoride
- Scale-up: The plant will test the process at a larger, continuous scale
- Supply: ABx is targeting domestic fluorine chemical production
- Timeline: Equipment installation is targeted for the end of March, with commissioning from April
The building looks empty now.
Give it a few months and ALCORE plans to fill it with fluorine-making equipment.
