Worker killed at La India construction site in Nicaragua

Metals Exploration (AIM:MTL) reports that a contractor employee has died following an incident related to construction work at a leach tank at the La India Project in Nicaragua.

A full investigation has been launched into the incident, and relevant authorities have been notified.

The construction site has been closed pending further investigation. No further details can be released until this investigation is complete.

La India was acquired by the company in 2025, increasing its Nicaraguan concession package to 1,222km².

Construction at the project is over 50% complete and is funded by the company’s existing and future cash reserves generated by the Runruno gold mine in the Philippines.

The company is targeting an average production of 145,000 ounces of gold per year over a 12-year mine life at La India.

Metals Exploration is a developer and producer focused on achieving more than 80,000 ounces of gold per year.
