UK onshore wind turbines proposal repowers European Green’s pipeline

IN LONDON: European Green Transition (AIM:EGT) is set to repower its orderbook and pipeline, following the UK Government’s proposal to enable farmers, schools and industrial users to install small onshore wind turbines without the need for planning permission.

On 18 March 2026, the UK Government announced the proposal which is designed to reduce barriers to access distributed wind energy, allowing organisations to lower energy costs and accelerate the adoption of clean, domestically generated power.

European Green believes the proposed policy direction supports its strategy of building a scalable platform of operations, maintenance, repair and monitoring services for onshore wind turbines.

The company has extensive experience installing small and medium wind turbines across the UK and expects these proposals to increase the number of onshore wind turbines to be installed. It also enables prospective and industrial users seeking to deploy small-scale wind solutions in line with the federal government’s proposals.

Executive Chair Cathal Friel says against a backdrop of heightened global market volatility, investment in domestically generated clean energy can provide households and businesses greater cost certainty and energy security.

“As the number of onshore wind turbines grows, so too does the requirement for high-quality operations, maintenance, repair and remote monitoring services,” Friel says.

In February 2026, the company acquired Earthmill Maintenance, Wind Energy Partnership and Silverford Engineering – an established earnings before interest taxes depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) profitable wind turbine operations and maintenance platform. The platform operates across the UK and Ireland, servicing more than 900 turbines and generating £14.7 million in revenue.

According to Research and Markets, the wind turbine market is forecast to grow from US$178.89 billion in 2025 to US$194.83 billion in 2026 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.9%.

European Green Transition is focused on acquiring, integrating and optimising revenue-generating and profitable services businesses in the critical infrastructure sector across the UK and Ireland.
