Southern Cross Gold (ASX:SXG) has completed a regional drilling program that has extended the mineralised footprint of its Sunday Creek Project in Victoria to more than 8km.
The $145.39 million market capitalisation company says the bolstered size of the drilled mineralised footprint at Sunday Creek represents an 8-fold increase in the previously drilled host to gold mineralisation, demonstrating the ‘district-scale’ opportunities that exist for the project.
‘High-grade’ gold, with an anomalous and broad mineralised halo, was discovered in the first drillholes ever drilled outside the main drill area.

Some of the top new intersections include drillhole SDDLV003 with 0.5m @ 15.7g/t Au from 87m and drillhole SDDLV004 with 0.3m @ 5.6g/t Au from 73.4m and 0.3m @ 19.4g/t Au from 100.7m.
Southern Cross Gold Managing Director Michael Hudson says the results are commensurate with earlier drilling conducted in what is now the core drill area at the project.
“Excitingly, we have demonstrated an 8-fold extension of the same mineralised structure, with high grades up to 19.4g/t gold hosted within a broad and extensive host.
The drill program has proved that the entire 8km trend and beyond at Sunday Creek is highly prospective for future significant gold discoveries.”

Southern Cross completed 12 holes for 2,367m across the Leviathan, Consols, and Tonstals historic mining areas within Sunday Creek.
With four diamond rigs operating at the site, Southern Cross plans to drill an additional 22,000m by April next year.
