Solis Minerals (ASX:SLM) has applied for additional exploration concessions surrounding the Cucho Copper Project in Peru, expanding the project’s footprint by 4,000 hectares.
The expanded land package positions Solis immediately adjacent to Fortescue’s (ASX:FMG) copper exploration ground to the northeast, with Element 29 Resources (TSX-V:ECU) and Vale (NYSE:VALE) progressing advanced copper projects in the district.
CEO Mitch Thomas says the Cucho Project continues to gain momentum, with adding concessions being a strategic move that strengthens the company’s position in the district.
“Our team is energised and focused on delivering value through disciplined, high-impact exploration,” Thomas says.
“Cucho complements a very active period of exploration for Solis Minerals with Ilo Este being drilled currently, Cinto planned to commence December 2025, Cucho Q2 2026 and then Canyon.”

This news comes amid the company planning 20 drill pads across Cucho, targeting the central, western, and north-eastern extents of the known mineralised system. The program is designed to test high-priority geophysical and geochemical anomalies, including areas untested by historical drilling.
Solis will evaluate extensions of the porphyry system and unlock the broader scale potential of Cucho, including the concessions that have been applied for.
The company has also begun a drill permitting program, as well as detailed geological modelling.
The Cucho Project represents a compelling opportunity with historical datasets, existing drill-defined copper mineralisation from surface, and clear geological indicators of a district-scale mineralised system.
Solis Minerals is an emerging explorer focused on its critical mineral prospective projects in South America.
