Scandium Canada (TSX-V:SCD) has executed a mutual non-disclosure agreement with the University of Waterloo, to establish research collaboration in additive manufacturing of aluminium alloys.
Earlier in May, Scandium Canada’s Chief Science Officer Luc Duchesne visited the University of Waterloo’s Multi-Scale Additive Manufacturing Laboratory (MSAM) and met with representatives to initiate research trials. The trials aim to accelerate the commercialisation of aluminium-scandium alloys in advanced manufacturing.
CEO Guy Bourassa says collaborating with one of the most respected additive manufacturing laboratories globally marks a step forward for the company and its Scandium+ division.
“This initiative reflects our commitment to generating concrete commercial opportunities for aluminium-scandium alloys,” Bourassa says.
“Working alongside MSAM, a top-tier Canadian research and development organisation with deep market expertise and a strong business network, represents a significant step toward achieving our objectives.”
Duchesne adds that the first target is to develop processes to reduce the cost of advanced manufacturing using laser powder bed fusion to broaden the spectrum of market opportunities.
