Sage Potash Corp (TSX-V:SAGE) is set to begin drilling at its Sage Plain Potash Project in Utah, after receiving all required permits.
The company secured approvals from San Juan County and the State of Utah following a site inspection on 28 May by the Utah Division of Oil, Gas, and Mining.
Sage Potash has also posted drilling-related bonds and engaged Westrock Energy Services (US) to oversee the program, with Drake Well Service as drilling contractor.
The program involves drilling a 1.275km stepout hole to the north-northeast from the maiden hole used to calculate the current resource.
Historical drilling identified significant potash mineralisation within the Cycle 18 upper and lower beds at depths of approximately 2,100m.
The company says drilling will target potash-bearing horizons to expand and upgrade resource confidence levels, while a comprehensive hydrogeological assessment will evaluate yield rates and water quality in saline non-potable aquifers.
CEO J. Patricio Varas says the permits mark a “major milestone” in the advancement of Sage Plain.
“Our technical team has designed a focused multipurpose drill program aimed at generating the critical geological and hydrogeological data required to potentially upgrade the resource and advance the project toward feasibility studies and detailed engineering,” Varas says.
Sage Potash expects to release an updated resource estimate in Q3 2026, incorporating results from the current drilling campaign and historical data.
The updated estimate will support feasibility studies, detailed engineering, and broader development planning.
The company and its contractors plan to mobilise for the drill program shortly.
Sage Potash Corp is focused on establishing domestic potash production at its 100%-owned Sage Plain project in Utah’s Paradox Basin.
