Red Mountain Mining (ASX:RMX) has reported that rock chip sampling has confirmed tungsten skarn mineralisation at its Pioneer Tungsten Project in Montana, US.
The company assayed 30 samples from the Mammoth and Greenstone prospects. Ten returned over 500 parts per million (ppm) tungstate, including five from Greenstone exceeding 1,000 ppm (maximum 3,159 ppm, or 0.32%) and one from Mammoth at 2,856 ppm (0.29%).
“The assay results confirm the presence of garnet skarn-hosted tungsten mineralisation at surface within the Pioneer project, with the best results returning comparable values to the grade of Almonty’s Gentung deposit,” the company says.
The results are comparable to the 0.315% grade of the neighbouring Gentung Tungsten deposit, which Almonty Industries (ASX:AII) owns.
Gentung lies within 200m of Red Mountain’s Mammoth claims and hosts 6.83 million tonnes at 0.315% tungstate.
The company says the findings confirm surface-hosted skarn mineralisation. Six Greenstone samples (three over 500ppm) are north of the current claim footprint, in an area recently staked and expected to be granted by end of July.
Pioneer comprises three claims along the Mount Torrey Batholith’s eastern margin: Greenstone, Mammoth, and Lost Creek. The area features limestone-hosted garnet skarns up to 25m thick containing scheelite.
Red Mountain’s claims adjoin properties Almonty purchased in November 2025, which include the historical Gentung, Ivanhoe, and Lost Creek mines that produced an estimated 680,000 tonnes of tungsten ore in the 1950s and 1970s.
The company plans systematic sampling at Greenstone in mid-July and could move to drill testing downdip extensions if results are positive.
