Gold Hydrogen (ASX:GHY) is expecting to complete a green methanol Feasibility Study in the March quarter 2027, after Ramsay 3 testing supported 100kg daily natural hydrogen output.
The company completed flow testing of the Parara Limestone at Ramsay 3, in the Ramsay Project on South Australia’s Yorke Peninsula, between 13 and 16 October. The test concludes the 2026 Ramsay campaign.
Appraisal testing and modelling indicate a development well could produce about 100kg of natural hydrogen a day, or roughly 36.5 tonnes a year at continuous output. Drilling at Ramsay 3 recorded air-corrected hydrogen concentrations of up to 97%.
Gold Hydrogen says the only comparable appraisal results it knows of come from Bourakébougou in Mali, where the discovery well reportedly flows about 125kg a day.
Horizontal wells of 500m are modelled at up to 112kg a day, although no horizontal well has been drilled at Ramsay.
Managing Director Neil McDonald says natural hydrogen and local biogenic carbon could support about 20,000 tonnes a year of green methanol.
“The 100kg-per-day result changes the development conversation,” McDonald says.
The company is studying a Yorke Peninsula methanol facility with shareholder Mitsubishi Gas Chemical under a non-binding memorandum of understanding signed in June.
McDonald says additional Japanese parties have expressed interest in offtake or project participation.
Next steps include laboratory analysis of Ramsay 3 gas and water samples, ranking step-out drilling targets and integrating flow data into the reservoir model. The company also targets a maiden helium contingent resource this month.
The company cautions the results do not confirm commercially recoverable hydrogen, sustained flow rates or project economics, and modelled rates remain untested.
Gold Hydrogen is an Australian explorer advancing a portfolio of natural hydrogen and helium assets in South Australia.
