Power Metallic Mines (TSX-V:PNPN) has reported its deepest intersection so far from the Lion Zone, which has been expanded with the results of the latest holes from the 2024 drilling campaign.
The explorer has received the results of four holes drilled to test multiple target areas in the Lion Zone, part of the Nisk Project in Québec.
Hole PN-24-093 intersected 31.05m @ 0.13 grams per tonne gold, 2.74g/t silver, 0.37% copper, 1.16g/t palladium, 0.18g/t platinum and 0.09% nickel from 534.1m.
This hit included 3.65m @ 0.24g/t gold, 9.22g/t silver, 1.21% copper, 4.76g/t palladium, 0.81g/t platinum and 0.13% nickel from 537.35m; and 3.1m @ 0.76g/t gold, 11.35g/t silver, 1.91% copper, 4.62g/t palladium, 0.27g/t platinum and 0.08% nickel from 562.05m.
Hole PN-24-092 and PN-024-093 tested the eastern edge of the interpreted plunge of the Lion Zone, with both holes confirming the location of the eastern plunge extent of the zone.
Meanwhile, Power Metallic says subsequent drilling below hole PN-25-096 returned significant visible mineralisation including massive copper-nickel zones in two holes that are pending assays to confirm grades.
The remaining two holes drilled were designed to fill in gaps in the Lion model to confirm the near-surface eastern strike extension of the interpreted deposit.
Both holes hit the target, returning high platinum group elements (PGEs) values, including 1.55m @ 65.09g/t palladium.
Power Metallic also reported the results of two holes drilled to test a weak airborne electromagnetic anomaly 700m northeast of Lion – known as the Tiger Zone.
While hole PN-24-090 appeared to miss the source of the airborne anomaly, it did confirm the presence of a mineralised structure, returning multiple narrow zones of copper, PGEs, gold, silver and nickel.
This hole returned assays of 1.75m @ 0.41g/t gold, 4.89g/t silver, 0.37% copper, 0.26g/t palladium, 0.06g/t platinum, 0.013% nickel and 0.01% cobalt.
Subsequent drill holes based on a follow-up borehole EM survey over the Tiger Zone all intersected additional narrow nickel-copper massive sulphides.
Power Metallic says drilling so far is still too sparse to model Tiger, but cross-section interpretation indicates that hole PN-24-090 was stopped just short of intersecting the higher grade nickel-copper zones that were intersected in hole PN-24-094.
The company is ramping up drilling at the Nisk Project, boosting the number of operational rigs from three to six by June.
Drilling will encompass roughly 100,000m drilling aimed at extending the zones in the Lion and Tiger polymetallic areas, expanding the Nisk deposit and exploring the untested 5.5km of strike between these areas.
Four drills are expected to work in the Lion-Tiger area to expand both prospects and define a resource for Lion by the first half of 2026.
