Piedmont Lithium achieves record quarterly production

Piedmont Lithium (ASX:PLL) has achieved record quarterly production of 49,660 tonnes from its North American Lithium (NAL) operations.

In the second quarter of 2024, NAL produced 49,660 tonnes and shipped 27,729 tonnes, of which 14,000 tonnes of spodumene concentrate were sold to Piedmont and shipped to customers.

The production results from the second quarter of this year represent a 23% increase from the first quarter.

Subject to shipping logistics, port and weather conditions, and customer requirements, Piedmont Lithium, which has a market capitalisation of $309.94 million, aims to produce 126,000 tonnes for the full year.

Piedmont Lithium says it is prioritising contract customer shipments as NAL nears the full run-rate production target of 96,500 tonnes.

CEO Keith Phillips says NAL is considered a “highly strategic” asset and the ramp up to steady-state production is continuing.

“With ongoing quarterly production records and the recent high-grade drill results of the 2023-2024 drill campaign, NAL has demonstrated significant progress and future potential,” Phillips says.

The NAL operations is considered North America’s “largest-producing” spodumene mine and is jointly owned between Piedmont, which holds 25%, and Sayona Mining (ASX:SYA), which owns 75%.

Piedmont Lithium is focused on developing an integrated lithium business focused on enabling the transition to a net zero world and creating a clean energy economy in North America.
