Neo Battery Materials (TSX:NBM) has been chosen to supply battery prototypes for an undisclosed South Korean defence project, with pilot orders and volume production to follow upon successful testing.
A South Korean defence prime and a tier-one Korean battery pack manufacturer contracted the company to develop and manufacture custom-built, high-performance batteries.
Under the A-sample phase, the company will supply initial prototypes for electrochemical and mechanical testing to verify performance and quality against project requirements.
If the A-samples pass evaluation, the program will advance to larger pilot orders involving B-sample manufacturing and evaluation ahead of potential volume production.
The contract advances the company’s Korean defence integration strategy to act as a cell partner to established integrators, supplying domestically manufactured batteries for South Korean defence applications.
CEO Spencer Huh says the contract reflects progress in engaging larger organisations and converting them into customers.
“Working with a major defence prime and an established pack manufacturer has formed another pathway into the Korean defence supply chain,” Huh says.
“Neo’s engineering and manufacturing team are focused on fulfilling the customers’ validation requirements and supporting the program through its next phases as a potential anchor vendor.”
Neo Battery Materials is a Canadian-South Korean battery technology company focused on developing and producing silicon-enhanced lithium-ion batteries in drones, robotics, physical AI, electric vehicles, and energy storage systems.
