MetalsTech tackles ‘high priority’ Sauvolles targets

MetalsTech (ASX:MTC) has begun a field exploration program focusing on 11 ‘high priority’ targets at the Sauvolles Lithium Project in the James Bay district of Quebec.

The $33 million market capitalisation company will be conducting a 12-day program, undertaking detailed mapping, outcrop identification, rock chip sampling, and general prospecting across the geology at the Sauvolles project.

All of the targets were generated from a recently completed hyperspectral program, using known lithium and tantalum occurrences to characterise the spectral signature of potential lithium occurrences within the area.

Mapping and geochemical modelling of the project has also generated additional target maps for minerals related to lithium-caesium-tantalum (LCT) pegmatites.

As well as the field exploration program, MetalsTech is compiling geological, geochemical, geophysical, and topographic data over the project.

MetalsTech aims to include geophysical field work, such as airborne and ground gravity surveys and light detection and ranging (LiDAR) surveys, similar to those already completed at the neighbouring Adina Lithium Project.

The company has engaged with Magnor Exploration to oversee and implement field exploration at Sauvolles.

MetalsTech Founding Director Gino D’Anna says the company has accelerated the field exploration, upon completing the hyperspectral survey which underpinned confidence in the prospective geology of Sauvolles.

“Our strategy is clear, and our exploration model is proven. Our focus is on conducting a thorough field investigation of the high-priority targets generated, as well as mapping the prospective geology and numerous outcrops identified to date.

The prospectivity of Sauvolles is further underpinned by the sheer zine of some of the targets. We are excited to drive our lithium exploration forward with a technical crew now positioned in the field.”

The Sauvolles project comprises 558 mineral claims totalling 300km-square in Canada. The project is prospective for hosting hard-rock, pegmatite-hosted lithium mineralisation.

MetalsTech is an ASX-listed mineral explorer focused on developing the Sturec Underground Gold Mine in Slovakia.

As of 30 June 2023, the company had $800,000 cash at hand, according to its latest quarterly report.
