Metals Australia (ASX: MLS) has encountered massive to disseminated sulphide mineralisation across two prospects following recent RC drilling at its Manindi Zinc Project in Western Australia’s Murchison District.
The results, generated from the Brushtail and Kultarr deposits, include two massive to disseminated sulphide zones of 68m from 88m downhole (MNRC070) and 17m from 56m downhole (MNRC071), which the company says demonstrate potential to ‘significantly’ grow the project’s zinc resources.
The company notes that initial hand-held XRF readings on RC chips from hole MNRC070 have recorded up to 17.4% Zn, and have averaged over 2.8% Zn over 68m from 88m downhole.
In addition, XRF readings from MNRC071 have indicated ‘strongly anomalous’ copper, nickel, cobalt, vanadium, and zinc in mafic intrusive rocks, representing new-found base metal sulphide mineralisation.
Speaking on the results, Metals Australia Chairman Mike Scivolo said: “In addition to the excellent results from the lithium program at Manindi, we have now drill intersected two exciting base metal sulphide zones at the project.

On top of that, it looks like we’re onto a parallel base-metal trend that has strongly anomalous copper, nickel, cobalt, vanadium, and zinc in the only hole to date that has tested this 3km trend.
The Company is now well funded to advance not only the lithium drill-out but also to grow the base metal sulphide resource on this very exciting project.”
The Manindi Zinc Project comprises the ‘high-grade’ Kultarr and Kowari Zinc deposits which host a JORC 2012, Measured, Indicated and Inferred Mineral Resource of 1.08Mt @ 6.52% Zn, 0.26% Cu and 3.19% Ag for 70,102t contained zinc.
The project also includes three granted mining leases located approximately 20km southwest of the Youanmi Gold Mine, plus three lithium-bearing pegmatites that outcrop at the surface with strike lengths of over 300m.
With drilling now complete, Metals Australia reports that it will move forward with a follow-up diamond drilling program and additional metallurgical test work with an aim to significantly increase the size of the Manindi Zinc Resource.
