Metallium subsidiary shakes for Glencore’s e-scrap

Metallium’s (ASX:MTM) subsidiary Flash Metals USA has executed a binding electronic-scrap (e-scrap) supply agreement with Glencore (LSE:GLEN) to secure access to feedstock for its Flash Joule Heating (FJH) technology platform in the US. 

The company will receive up to 2,400 tonnes of e-scrap per year to support the ongoing commercial commissioning and subsequent scale-up of FJH processing lines.

The parties will organise a separate binding offtake agreement that reflects the framework outlined in the memorandum of understanding, while organising delivery scheduling and logistics to support commissioning and processing campaigns. 

Metallium CEO Michael Walshe describes this agreement as a “defining moment” for the company. 

“Our first binding supply agreement gives us exactly what every processing technology company needs most: consistent, secure, high quality feedstock,” Walshe says. 

“Glencore’s commitment allows us to commission and scale with confidence, and it’s a strong validation of our FJH technology and US strategy.

“We look forward to building on this relationship as we finalise the complementary binding offtake agreement.”

Metallium says this agreement with Glencore is its first binding feedstock supply contract, marking the company’s “transition from development into commercial commissioning and execution”.

As reported by Mining.com.au, Flash was granted approval in August 2025 to lease two processing sites in the US, located at Mid-City Scrap’s metals campus in Westport, Massachusetts and the Recycle Management’s multi-modal recycling facility in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

Metallium’s FJH technology utilises the principle of electrical resistance to generate intense heat within materials almost instantaneously. 

The process passes a direct current through a material while the resistance within the material converts electrical energy into heat energy. 

Metallium is focused on mineral exploration and metal recovery technology development with assets in Australia, Canada, and the US.
