Metal Energy (TSX-V:MERG) has started drilling with a second diamond rig at its NIV Copper-Gold Project in the Toodoggone district of British Columbia, Canada.
The additional rig doubles the company’s drilling capacity for the remaining four weeks of the 2026 field season.
Metal Energy has completed six holes totalling approximately 4,200m towards its planned 6,000m program. The campaign remains on schedule, with the company retaining the option to drill additional metres this season.
Metal Energy says the second rig will allow faster follow-up drilling on emerging targets and provide broader coverage across the NIV system’s 5km strike length.
CEO Charlie Greig says the increased capacity will help the company maximise drilling before the end of the season.
“The second rig lets us follow up on our best holes, more fully test the impressive five km length of the NIV system, and put as many metres into the ground as possible this season,” Greig says.
No assay results from the program have been reported. Metal Energy plans to release results as they are received, reviewed, compiled, and interpreted.
The campaign, which began on 29 June, represents the first drilling undertaken at NIV. It targets coincident soil geochemical, induced polarisation, and airborne magnetic anomalies across the copper-gold-molybdenum system.
Greig says the expanded program will also provide information to help plan further drilling at NIV in 2027.
Metal Energy is a Canadian critical metals explorer with copper and gold assets in British Columbia and Manitoba. Its portfolio comprises the NIV, Highland Valley, and Manibridge projects.
