Mercado Minerals (CSE:MERC) plans to start inaugural diamond drilling at its Zamora Project in Mexico within weeks, after surface sampling returned 1,615 grams per tonne silver.
The company’s sampling at the Campanillas – La Franca Vein in Sinaloa returned 0.40m @ 1,615g/t silver (Ag) and 1.77g/t gold (Au), or 1,605g/t silver equivalent (AgEq). The vein now has an 800m strike length, and the La Franca concession is under a letter of intent.
At the El Triunfo Vein, mapping and prospecting extended a single historic working to 180m of strike. A 0.40m chip sample returned 558g/t Ag and 3.52g/t Au for 773g/t AgEq. Meanwhile, a stockpile grab sample returned 1,075g/t Ag and 1.14g/t Au for 1,078g/t AgEq.
Surface work added 30% to the known strike lengths of both veins and identified new drill targets.
On the Gaby concession, chip sampling returned 0.50m @ 120g/t Ag and 3.61g/t Au for 378g/t AgEq at the Aguamitas Vein. The Periguete Vein returned 1m @ 20g/t silver and 1.52g/t gold for 131g/t AgEq.
AgEq values use prices of US$24 ($34) an ounce for silver and US$1,900 an ounce for gold, plus lead and zinc. The company has not reported metallurgical work on the property.
CEO Daniel Rodriguez says the results support the company’s view of the project.
“All of this confirms our belief that the Zamora Project is highly prospective for silver-gold vein mineralization and is extremely under explored,” Rodriguez states.
“We look forward to the first ever drill testing of these targets in the coming weeks.”
The company holds more than 3,000 hectares in Mexico’s Western Silver Belt.
