Marmota surpasses 20,000m at Greenewood gold discovery

Marmota (ASX:MEU) has exceeded 20,000m of reverse circulation (RC) drilling at its Greenewood gold discovery, located within its Gawler Gold Project in South Australia.

The company has completed 188 holes so far across the main Greenewood zone and southern Mainwood extension since 2026 drilling began on 20 April. The program comprises 90 holes in the main Greenewood zone and 98 holes in the Mainwood area.

Marmota had originally planned approximately 220 holes, but the company now says this is ‘very likely’ to be expanded.

Chairman Colin Rose says the program serves two primary roles: to continue the growth of the main Greenewood zone; and drill the southern extensions — dubbed “Mainwood” — with the aim of identifying ‘high-grade’ gold to the south.

Breaking it down further, Marmota says drilling aims to extend Greenewood to the north and at depth, identify contiguous gold zones at Mainwood through maiden drilling, grow the resource, and increase drill density to enable an indicated resource for the upcoming Scoping Study.

“In the last three months alone, Marmota has drilled twice as many RC metres than was ever drilled cumulatively at Greenewood and Mainwood combined in all the many years prior to Marmota taking ownership of these deposits,” Rose says.

“Our programs are yielding outstanding results, they are transforming these deposits, and that is the best reward and ultimate validation of the company’s strategy.”

Greenewood and Mainwood sit approximately 35km northwest of Marmota’s flagship Aurora Tank gold deposit and 30km northeast of the Challenger gold mine. The deposits form part of the Golden Moon joint venture, where Marmota holds 90% ownership through its wholly owned subsidiary Half Moon.

The company commenced its maiden Scoping Study for the Gawler Gold Project in November 2025.

Marmota is a mining explorer focused on gold, titanium, and uranium.
