Impact Minerals (ASX:IPT) has signed a Technology Collaboration Agreement with US-based battery innovation company Charge CCCV (C4V) though its 50%-owned associated company, Alluminous, to develop and qualify their high purity alumina (HPA) process for advanced battery applications.
The agreement supports Impact’s strategy to build a vertically integrated HPA business and positions Alluminous as a potential supplier of HPA into the US market. With supply chain security and domestic production a key driver for the US markets, this agreement is strategically significant for Alluminous and Impact.
Managing Director Mike Jones notes the significance of the agreement which “strongly supports our strategy to build a vertically integrated HPA business from the Lake Hope feedstock through to modular downstream production with HiPurAⓇ”.
“CV4’s world class expertise in cell design and ceramic-coating technologies will greatly enhance the technical and commercial readiness of Alluminous and its visibility in the North American HPA marketplace,” Jones says.
The agreement terms state that Alluminous and CV4 will collaboratively develop and quality HiPurAⓇ HPA for battery applications including separator coatings, ceramic layers, solid-state components, and electrode interface materials.
CV4 will conduct testing following the requirements of battery original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), providing real-world validation of the technology and enhancing the path from pilot production to commercial readiness.
