Giant Mining (CSE:BFG) Chief Executive David Greenway says the Majuba Hill Project, located in the US, is well-positioned to contribute to domestic manufacturing resilience, defense readiness, and the rebuilding of the US’ critical mineral supply chain.
This news comes after the US Presidential Proclamation 11001 was issued on 14 January 2026, which seeks to strengthen secure, reliable, and allied supply chains for processed critical minerals and their derivative products entering the US.
Proclamation 11001 follows a comprehensive Section 232 investigation that found the US to be dependent on foreign sources for critical minerals essential to national security, energy transition technologies, and advanced manufacturing.
Greenway notes that copper has become a foundational material for the US defence-industrial base.
“The US Government’s Section 232 proclamation reinforces the strategic imperative to secure reliable, American-sourced copper supply chains that reduce foreign dependence and support the Pentagon’s growing demand for critical minerals,” he says.
Majuba Hill is an advanced copper-silver-gold system with a history of exploration and mining located near existing infrastructure in Nevada. The project’s geological setting, scale potential, and proximity to US end-markets position it as a compelling asset as domestic copper demand continues to accelerate.
Giant Mining is focused on identifying, acquiring, and advancing late-stage copper, silver, and gold projects.
As previously reported, global law firm White & Case states in its Mining & Metals 2026 report that copper and gold are expected to be “big winners” in 2026, following strong price growth over 2025 with both commodities outperforming US and European equity indices.
In December 2025, copper hit US$12,000 ($17,422) per tonne following output reductions, led by the loss of hundreds of thousands of tonnes from Escondido, Collahuasi, and Grasberg mines.
At the time of writing, copper futures rose above US$5.9 per pound. The critical mineral’s price has risen 7.94% over the past month and is up 38.89% compared to the same time last year.
