Legend Mining (ASX:LEG) has started aircore drilling at the Pyrophyllite Hill prospect to inform follow-up reverse circulation (RC) drilling at its Pinnacle Well Project in Western Australia.
The 50-hole, 2,500m program is testing a 1km by 500m area at the prospect, located 25km north-northeast of Leonora.
Executive Chair Mark Wilson says the drilling marks the first exploration activity at Pinnacle Well since 2006.
“We are very pleased to have the rods turning at Pinnacle Well. These will be the first drill holes at the project since 2006 and will focus on a compelling multi-feature [induced polarisation] anomaly at Pyrophyllite Hill,” Wilson says.
“The geology and geochemistry data from this round of drilling will be vital inputs into planning the follow-up RC program.”
Pyrophyllite Hill is considered prospective for both intrusion-related and structurally controlled gold mineralisation. The target area includes a pyrophyllite alteration zone, a 600m chargeable-resistive feature identified through pole-dipole induced polarisation (PDIP) surveying, and a hydrothermal soil anomaly.
Rock-chip samples from the prospect have also returned ‘elevated’ gold results associated with quartz-chlorite-siderite-goethite-limonite-magnetite alteration.
Drilling is anticipated to take 10–15 days to complete. Following this, Legend will assess geological and multi-element assays prior to planning RC drilling at Pyrophyllite Hill and Alpha North.
Legend holds a 100% interest in four exploration licences covering the 128km² Pinnacle Well Project. The licences were acquired in July and November 2025, alongside a right of first refusal over seven adjoining ‘Linger and Die Group’ tenements.
Pinnacle Well is located near the Gwalia and King of the Hills gold deposits, as well as the Bentley and Jaguar base metal deposits.
Legend Mining is a mineral exploration company with projects in Western Australia, including its flagship Rockford Project in the Fraser Range.
