Legend Mining (ASX: LEG) reports that it has generated ‘compelling’ drill targets following the completion of data processing and modelling from a 3D seismic survey at the Mawson prospect within its Rockford Project in Western Australia.
Contractor HiSeis had completed a ground seismic survey during December 2021 over a 6.5km² area at Mawson, with results providing a ‘clearly evident’ seismic signature that appears to replicate in an offset position below the discovery zone.
Addressing the news, Legend Mining Managing Director Mark Wilson said: “The structural detail of the Mawson intrusion that this survey has delivered is outstanding.

The aim of the survey was to define the architecture of the Mawson intrusion in relation to the stratigraphic package, to a depth of investigation of a minimum 1,000m below surface.
In addition, a more-detailed analysis on the western side of the survey area was designed to test for a direct detection signature of nickel-copper-cobalt sulphide accumulations, given the shallow nature of mineralisation less than 250m below surface.
Data processing and subsequent modelling have now been completed for the Mawson 3D seismic cube, with the results highlighting the ‘excellent’ correlation between the seismic dataset and the existing detailed constrained gravity inversion.

Moving forward, Legend, in conjunction with consultants Terra Resources, MIRA Geoscience, and HiSeis is continuing to conduct interrogation including incorporation of existing geophysical, geological, geochemical, and structural datasets.
The company said that modelling to date has already identified multiple new drill targets, both outside, inside, and below the existing drill coverage.
Legend’s geological team is currently ranking new diamond drilling targets for an April start to the 2022 field season at Mawson.
