Lac Gold (ASX:LAC) has reported exceptional ‘high-grade’ gold intersections at its Rouyn Gold Project in Québec.
The company has returned multiple ‘high-grade’ gold intersections from its ongoing diamond drilling program at the Astoria deposit, including 5.65m @ 141.29 grams per tonne gold from 148.15m, featuring 0.5m @ 1,580.00g/t gold.
Additional significant results include 9.10m @ 6.31g/t gold from 123.40m, including 4.00m @ 10.41g/t gold, and 97.50m @ 1.04g/t gold from 554.65m, including 17.00m @ 3.58g/t gold.
“These exceptional high-grade results materially strengthen our confidence in the scale and high-grade potential of the Rouyn gold system,” Managing Director Andrew Stocks says.
“Importantly, the high-grade intersections reported in this announcement are associated with broad mineralised halos and structurally controlled alteration zones, supporting our interpretation of a large and evolving orogenic gold system.”
The highest-grade intercept of 1,580g/t gold over 0.5m was encountered in hole AS-26-793, representing the highest-grade intercept reported to date from the current drilling campaign.
The intercept was located approximately 25m below historical underground development at a vertical depth of approximately 150m.
Lac Gold has completed its initial 15,000m phase one drilling campaign and commenced a further 15,000m phase two program.
Two diamond drill rigs are currently operating with substantial assay results still pending.
Drilling activities continue to focus on extending known mineralisation at Astoria, testing down-dip continuity of the mineralised system between depths of 400m and 1,000m, and advancing additional targets within the Cadillac Break corridor.
The Rouyn Gold Project currently hosts a mineral resource estimate of 1.66 million ounces of gold at 3.28g/t gold, comprising 976,000 ounces in the indicated category and 690,000 ounces in the inferred category.
