IRIS secures historic data for Finley acquisition

IRIS Metals (ASX:IR1) has announced the acquisition of historic exploration data for the ‘high-grade’ Finley Basin Tungsten Project in Montana, US.

This historic data was secured immediately after the completion of the definitive farm-in agreement with Finley Mining. The agreement outlines that IRIS may earn up to 100% of the fully diluted shareholding in Finley, the other of the project.

The data includes drill logs, geological interpretations, and regional mapping and surface sampling data.

IRIS is advancing additional work to support the Finley Basin Project, with exploration permitting applications submitted to the US Forest Service and the State of Montana.

President of US Operations Matt Hartmann says that the IRIS team has been advancing its near-term exploration work as they continue to finalise the earn-in agreement with Finley Mining.

“This work has resulted in the identification and acquisition of historical Union Carbide Corporation exploration data, and rapid submission of the applications for exploration permitting required for our 2026 drill program following execution of the earn-in agreement last week,” Hartmann says.

“We look forward to advancing the project as we continue to build a multi-commodity critical minerals portfolio in western United States.”

The company is targeting drill rig mobilisation in Q3 2026.

IRIS Metals is an exploration company focused on critical minerals in the United States.
