Highfield Resources (ASX:HFR) says it has the backing of the Government of Navarra and Spanish authorities to swiftly resolve a procedural matter related to the Goyo mining concession within its Muga Potash Project.
In October 2024, the Superior Court of Justice of Navarra flagged an issue with the coordination process between the Navarra Government and the Spanish central government in approving the grant of the Goyo concession.
Highfield Resources notes that the ruling does not question the validity of the concession.
As such, the company has been informed by government sources that the matter raised by the superior court can be resolved within the framework of competencies shared between the central government and Navarra.
Further, authorities have defined a clear road map to rectify the situation in a way that ensures timely construction of the Muga Mine in Spain.
President of Navarra Maria Chivite says Muga is the largest mining project in Spain with an investment of €150 million ($250.2 million) and plans to invest €700 million to complete its construction.
“It should be noted that the promotion of this project will mean the creation of 800 jobs, an industrial development that has the participation of important international investors,” Chivite says.
Highfield Resources is a potash-focused company which is planning on starting full-scale construction of its low-capex Muga Project in Spain.
