Hamelin to Xplor interesting West Tanami prospects

Hamelin Gold (ASX:HMG) is taking advantage of its participation in BHP’s (ASX:BHP) Xplor program as it undertakes a reverse circulation (RC) drill program across several prospects within the West Tanami Project in Western Australia.

As previously reported, Hamelin Gold was selected to participate in the 2024 Xplor program — a 6-month accelerator program for early-stage explorers to fast-track and de-risk geological concepts — which is assessing regional nickel-copper-platinum group element (Ni-Cu-PGE) potential of the Tanami region.

In releasing its latest quarterly report today (30 April 2024), the $11.65 million market capitalisation company outlines recently conducting age dating, petrological analysis of key intrusive units, sample selection for whole rock and detailed PGE analysis, regional structural mapping, and targeting Ni-Cu-PGE opportunities.

The company is now planning to drill to test the Sultan, Sultan West, and Fremlins gold prospects, as part of the West Tanami Project.

Sultan will be tested for primary gold mineralisation at depth and along strike of the mineralisation defined in a previously conducted aircore drill program. Drilling is expected to kick off in May 2024.

Hamelin says there is a potential that related mineralised structures might increase in grade in fresh rock at the Fremlins prospect.

A series of RC drillholes will be completed in late May 2024, designed to test for the source of near surface regolith gold anomalism.

A 3km long surface gold anomaly at Fremlins South is also planned to be drill tested, with aircore drilling following the completion of a heritage survey and regulatory approvals.

For Fremlins South, drilling is co-funded as part of the Western Australian government’s Exploration Incentive Scheme.

Hamelin also reports that a project generation program was conducted across the Yilgarn region, specifically targeting areas of thin sand cover where surface sampling and ultrafine fraction analysis could be applied.

A suite of targets were generated in the program and the company lodged exploration licence applications where ground was vacant. Five early-stage projects have been added to the company’s portfolio and all sit in the southern Yilgarn region.

These projects are dubbed the Anderson, Walker, Bandy, Ularring, and Glen Lakes projects.

As of 31 March 2023, the company had $5.199 million in cash and cash equivalents at hand, according to its latest quarterly report.
