Global crude steel output rises 14.4% during H1 2021

Global crude steel production rose by 14.4% during H1 2021, compared to the previous year, according to data released on Friday by the World Steel Association.

Total production for the 64 reported countries for June 2021 was 167.9 million tonnes, up 11.6% year-on-year. Total output for the half reached 1,003.9 million tonnes.

  4. USA: 7.1 Mt ↑44.4%

  6. South Korea: 6.0 Mt ↑17.3%
  7. Germany: 3.4 Mt ↑38.2%
  8. Turkey: 3.4 Mt ↑17.9%
  9. Brazil: 3.1 Mt ↑45.2%
  10. Iran (estimate): 2.5 Mt ↑1.9%
