Forrestania finalises Breakaway Dam follow-up

Forrestania Resources (ASX:FRS) is currently finalising the planning of an upcoming drilling program to follow-up on ‘strong’ targets at the Breakaway Dam tenement, within the Eastern Goldfields Project in Western Australia.

The diversified minerals explorer has designed the drilling program to test the lithium anomalism.

Forrestania is currently completing further field trips to conduct clearing activities at the Breakaway Dam area. A geochemical and exploration reconnaissance trip is also scheduled to be undertaken later this quarter, by the company’s team alongside exploration geologist Dr Carl Brauhart.

The company also announced today (26 February 2024) a review of historic drilling results was returned, which highlighted several pegmatite intercepts that were never previously tested for lithium with multiple holes ending in pegmatite.

Chairman John Hannaford says the company reviewing previous exploration data revealed an 18m pegmatite intercept which has ‘significantly’ enhanced the prospectivity of Breakaway Dam.

“The previous exploration programs neither targeted nor assayed for lithium. The logged pegmatite is in close proximity to lithium rock chip results, along the 20km monzogranite/greenstone contact.

The extent of the company’s tenement package encompassing this prospect means that any discovery could potentially be very large in scale.

The company plans to drill test the Breakaway Dam prospect next quarter, targeting the known pegmatite outcrops and strong geochemical targets.”

Forrestania reports results sit within 20km of geologically ‘significant’ greenstone/monzogranite contact, completely untested by drilling, but coincident with extensive, ‘highly’ anomalous potassium/rubidium geochemistry.

Overall, the Eastern Goldfields project comprises several tenements that lie over areas Forrestania believes to be ‘highly prospective’ for lithium, copper, gold, and rare earths discoveries.

Forrestania Resources is a Western Australian and Canadian-focused mineral explorer. The company’s assets include the Forrestania, Southern Cross, and Eastern Goldfields projects in Western Australia, as well as the Hydra Lithium Project in Quebec, Canada.

As of 31 December 2023, the company had $1.279 million cash and cash equivalents at hand, according to its latest quarterly report.
