Dyno Nobel secures long-term contract renewals with Peabody

Incitec Pivot (ASX:IPL) subsidiary Dyno Nobel has secured two long-term contract renewals with pure-play coal miner Peabody (NYSE:BTU) in Australia and across its US operations.

Effective from January 2025 for five years, blasting and explosives company Dyno Nobel will provide its technology solutions manufactured locally in-country to multiple Peabody mine sites across both countries.

Dyno Nobel Asia Pacific President – and Dyno Nobel Americas President from October 2024 – Greg Hayne says the contracts continue a decades-long partnership between two businesses in the global mining industry.

Both contracts will see Dyno Nobel provide Peabody’s operations with “cost certainty and reliable supply” via its in-country manufacturing capability.

“We are able to safely and securely provide Peabody with domestically manufactured bulk explosives, protected from volatile global ammonia pricing,” Hayne says.

In the US, Dyno Nobel’s nitrogen assets will supply Peabody’s US operating footprint, while in Queensland, the Incitec Pivot subsidiary’s Moranbah ammonium nitrate plant is strategically positioned in the Bowen Basin to produce the explosives products Peabody requires to extract coal.

“The products and services we will provide under these contracts will help drive productivity, safety and sustainability benefits for Peabody,” Hayne said.

Dyno Nobel is a blasting technology, commercial explosives, and blasting services firm with 3,770 employees.

It has a strong presence across six continents, including a global network of manufacturing facilities and distribution channels with customers across industries including mining, quarry, as well as construction, and oil and gas.

ASX100 company Incitec Pivot also operates Incitec Pivot Fertilisers (IPF), an integrated manufacturer and distributor of fertilisers across the east coast of Australia.
