Core Energy Minerals (ASX:CR3) is planning follow-up geophysics following initial aircore drilling at the group’s Cummins Uranium Project in South Australia.
The follow-up geophysic activities, likely to include gravity, passive seismic, and airborne electromagnetic, will map channel morphology for target generation. Each of these survey methods are relatively fast to acquire data and non-ground disturbing.
Once paleochannel margins have been mapped, drilling will target the channel margins where the company expects higher grade mineralisation to accumulate.
Core Energy will also conduct a portable x-ray fluorescence survey across all samples from the recent drilling program and select historical samples, to understand the alteration patterns surrounding mineralised intercepts within the basement clays.
Executive Director Tony Greenaway says phase two drill targets will be generated by further mapping the morphological controls within the paleochannel systems.
“Initial findings from our recently completed maiden drilling campaign at our Cummins Uranium Project provide a foundation for refined targeting and support our current geological mineralisation model,” Greenaway says.
The program – comprising 27 holes for 2,775m – identified intercepts over 100 parts per million (ppm) triuranium octoxide which provides valuable vectors for the mineralising system within Cummins.
Some of the results include 4m @ 114.3ppm triuranium octoxide from 104m; and 1m @ 117.9ppm triuranium octoxide from 88m.
