Brookside Energy (ASX:BRK) has commenced drilling operations on the first of two horizontal wells planned for its Suttles pad in Oklahoma, US.
Drilling has begun on the Sabres 2-1-1S-3W SXH1 well, with Kenai Drilling Rig 18 now on location and drilling ahead in the 17.5-inch surface-hole section. Brookside holds an approximate 70% working interest in the well.
The Sabres well targets the Sycamore Formation at approximately 7,700ft (2.34km) depth and features a 1.5-mile (2.41km) lateral section.
Following completion, the rig will move across the pad to drill the Whalers 2-1-1S-3W WXH2 well to target the Woodford Formation from an adjacent surface location.
Surface production facilities at the Suttles pad are substantially complete, allowing oil and gas production to be turned to sales quickly once drilling and completion operations conclude.
“Spudding Sabres is another step in the disciplined development of our SWISH inventory,” CEO David Prentice says.
“The work done ahead of the drill bit matters. From land and title to subsurface modelling, regulatory approvals, pad construction, facilities, and takeaway preparations — this has been a full-cycle team effort to set the program up to move cleanly from drilling through completions, flowback, and first sales.”
The Suttles pad represents the next step in Brookside’s multi-well development model in the SWISH Area of Interest within the Anadarko Basin.
Brookside Energy has built a concentrated production base alongside reserve inventory and drilling opportunities.
Prentice says the company’s focus remains on executing safely while maintaining tight cycle times to bring the wells online efficiently.
