Marmota (ASX:MEU) is launching its maiden drilling campaign to target “bonanza gold grades” at its Greenewood gold discovery in South Australia’s Gawler Craton region.
The discovery is touted to contain high grades that are close to the surface with “excellent continuity along strike” as well as “exceptional[ly] thick high-grade intersections”.
Drilling activity will target Greenewood’s extension to the south called Mainwood. About 220 holes will be reverse circulation drilled, spanning a combined 20km. This is hoped to “massively” extend the mineralised gold strike to 2km.
The site will eventually become a “low-cost, low-capex, open-pit and heap leach gold production” operation.
Essential drilling program diesel supplies have arrived onsite. Workers have departed Adelaide and were heading for the site to prepare pads, tracks, and sumps at the time of writing. Drilling was planned to start on the week starting 20 April 2026.
“This program serves two primary roles: To continue the growth of the main Greenewood zone, which has been yielding spectacular results and remains open in all directions; [and] to vigorously attack the southern zone (Mainwood) with our maiden drilling program there,” Marmota Chairman Colin Rose says.
Marmota is a gold, titanium, and uranium mining exploration company with assets in South Australia.
