Bastion Minerals (ASX:BMO) believes there is potential for additional mineralised deposits discoveries within the ICE Copper-Gold Project in western Canada, after identifying 11 exploration targets.
The ICE project has undergone limited exploration outside the known deposit area, with less than 1% of the property drill tested.
Bastion says this allows for ample opportunity for extension of the known resource and discovery of additional zones of volcanic-hosted massive sulphide mineralisation.
The company intends to validate re-assaying of additional historical core underway for an upcoming mineral resource estimate, which is expected to be defined in early Q1 2025.
Bastion will also re-process historical electromagnetic and magnetic data to further refine drilling targets and plan a drilling program. Once completed, the company will submit a class three drill permit application, targeting a northern summer 2025 field campaign.
In April-May 2025, a fieldwork program will be undertaken, including detailed mapping, induced polarisation and EM geophysics, as well as soil geochemistry. These activities will generate further information prior to drilling.
Once additional geophysics and geochemistry is completed, drilling will begin at the ICE project.
Executive Chairman Ross Landles says with less than 1% of the project area drilled outside of the resource and having 11 identified targets, the potential for new discoveries is “substantial.”
“We believe the untested geophysical and geochemical anomalies provide excellent drill targets, and we are confident in the future of the project as we continue our exploration efforts throughout 2025,” Landles says.
“We firmly believe the ICE Copper-Gold Project offers a highly prospective opportunity for the discovery of additional mineralised deposits.
“With substantial unexplored areas, combined with historical data that points to the potential for additional VHMS-style mineralisation, the company is well-positioned to expand its resource base.”
