Australian Gold and Copper (ASX:AGC) has completed drilling at its Achilles deposit and launched an 8,000m program at the Evergreen prospect in the South Cobar Basin, New South Wales.
The company finished aircore drilling at the Tooronga prospect and depth extension drilling at Achilles during the June quarter.
Managing Director Glen Demar says the work at Achilles targeted the ‘high-grade’ northern pod to extend mineralisation beyond the current 38.5 million ounce (Moz) silver equivalent (AgEq) mineral resource estimate (MRE).
“We are systematically delineating a previously underexplored domain within a mature mining belt,” Demar says.
Achilles contains 10.3 million tonnes (Mt) @ 116 grams per tonne AgEq for 38.5Moz. Open pit resources total 7.9Mt using a 40g/t cut-off grade.
Recent drilling returned ‘high-grade’ intersections, including 6m @ 2,474g/t AgEq from 212.65m in hole A3RCD086. Mineralisation extends from surface to 540m depth and remains open 250m below the current resource.
Australian Gold and Copper acquired the New South Resources portfolio in June for gold-focused targets across seven drill-ready prospects. The acquisition included historical ‘high-grade’ intersections of 64m @ 13.5g/t gold (Au) from 50m and 39m @ 5.2g/t Au from 100m.
An 8,000m diamond and reverse circulation drilling program is underway at Evergreen, targeting an initial MRE. Evergreen forms part of the 6.5km Browns–Evergreen silver-gold-base metal system acquired in August 2025.
The company also began maiden drilling at the Junee Gold Project, targeting gold discovery at Mount Illabo. It plans to update the Achilles resource and declare an initial Evergreen resource during the December quarter.
The South Cobar Project sits 100km west of Evolution Mining’s (ASX:EVN) Cowal gold mine in the established Cobar mining district. Australian Gold and Copper has consolidated the entire South Cobar Basin through strategic acquisitions totalling $1.9 million.
Australian Gold and Copper is an exploration company focused on discovering and developing precious and base metal projects in the Lachlan Fold Belt of New South Wales.
