Energy solutions firm for miners Energy Drive has appointed Johannes Felix Bayer as Head of Sales for Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa (EMENA), underpinning its commitment to expansion and growth globally and particularly.
Bayer joins from voestalpine High Performance Metals International, where he was Senior Sales Engineer for South Eastern Europe and led sales operations in Slovenia and Bulgaria across the steel, automotives, oil and gas, and energy sectors. Prior to this, he was Head of Sales for Industry and Mechanical Engineering at Thyssenkrupp.
Energy Drive, which provides zero-capex energy efficiency solutions for large motors in the mining and metals industries, says the appointment follows a £20 million strategic growth investment from The Pears Family in May.
As Head of Sales EMENA at Energy Drive, Bayer will be responsible for building an effective and scalable cross-border sales operation in the region. The team will initially target the steel industry across Europe, but also focus resources on the chemical, manufacturing, utilities, and other industry sectors.
Launched in 2010, Energy Drive brings Intelligent Motor Control to heavy industry, reducing operational costs and supporting energy-related sustainability goals. Using variable frequency drives, engineering know-how and digital insights, the company optimises the operations of industrial-scale motors.
Intelligent Motor Control is delivered as-a-service, requiring no upfront capital expenditure from clients, and on average, reduces the energy consumption on installed systems by 43%, while maintaining operational requirements.
Energy Drive CEO James Hynd says the company believes that, with Bayer’s sales leadership and expertise, his appointment will appeal to a significant number of companies across Europe as it aims to significantly grow presence in EMENA over the coming years.
On joining the company, Bayer adds that Energy Drive offers one of the most exciting and innovative solutions to heavy industry, including steel production.
The company offers an innovative, automated system that saves clients both energy and costs, while requiring zero capital investment from them.
Annually, Energy Drive saves nearly one million kilograms of CO2, SO2 and NOX emissions. It has previously partnered with ArcelorMittal, Glencore, Vale, NLMK, Sibanye-Stillwater, and Liberty Steel.
