Anson ships Green River’s brine to South Korea

Anson Resources’ (ASX:ASN) subsidiary Blackstone Minerals has shipped a bulk sample of over two tons of brine from the Green River Lithium Project in the US, to POSCO Holdings (KRX:005490) in South Korea.

The brine will be tested for lithium extraction efficiency and is part of the due diligence and internal review for the planned demonstration plant at Green River.

Results from the test work will be used to prepare an initial engineering design and cost estimates for the planned plant. The test work is also being conducted as part of the due diligence process POSCO is conducting to determine an investment into the demonstration plant.

Anson notes the due diligence work is expected to be completed by December 2025.

The bulk sample includes iron free brine that has been produced by Anson’s unique chemical-free process. The pre-treatment process to reduce iron prior to being fed into the direct lithium extraction process was developed at the company’s Lithium Innovation Centre in the US.

Anson’s planned demonstration plant is considered a scaled-up version of a pilot plant to validate a new industrial process at a larger, commercially relevant scale before full-scale construction.

The plant will operate on a continuous process basis to closely resemble that of the anticipated future commercial plant, alongside generating lithium carbonate products.

Anson Resources is a mineral resources company focused on its Green River Project in Utah, US. The company is focused on developing its assets into a lithium producing operation.

POSCO is a South Korean steel manufacturer that had an output of 42 million tons of crude steel in 2015, making it among the largest steelmakers globally.
