Anson Resources (ASX:ASN) announces that its wholly owned subsidiary, Blackstone Minerals, has intersected the Mississippian target horizon at 9,189ft during the re-entry drilling program at the Mt Fuel-Skyline Geyser 1-25, part of Green Lithium Project in Utah, US.
Drilling at Mt Fuel requires the use of oil-based muds (OBM), a heavy drilling fluid that prevents potential blow outs due to the pressure that can build up in some deep lithological units.
Drilling detected small amounts of chlorine had entered the OBMs and samples have been collected, with the water and brine separated from the muds to be assayed.
The purpose of this drill program is to confirm lithium-rich brines at the target horizons which will be used to increase the interpreted JORC resource surrounding the Bosydaba #1 Well.
The company plans to convert the exploration target into indicated and inferred resources following results.
Anson notes that the Green River area had no recorded lithium assays until its recent drilling, but supersaturated brines intercepted during oil and gas exploration confirm the potential of the northern Paradox Basin.
Anson plans to conduct additional sampling and drilling to expand its JORC resource estimate.
