Alice Queen (ASX:AQX) has announced the appointment of experienced mining executive Nick Mather to the role of Strategic Advisor to the company.
Mr Mather brings over 35 years of experience in exploration and resources, and has been instrumental in the generation of projects that have laid the foundation for $5.7 billion in shareholder returns via corporate take overs.
Having risen to the role of Managing Director at Auralia Resources before its merger with Ross Mining in 1995, Mr Mather subsequently went to to senior management roles at BeMaX Resources and Arrow Energy before co-founding SolGold, where he acted as CEO and was responsible for driving the company’s market capitalisation above USD $1 billion.
Mr Mather’s roll in the discovery of the tier-1 Cascabel copper-gold porphyry project in Northern Ecuador saw him awarded ‘Best Director’ and ‘Best Exploration Team Management’ at the Mines and Money forum awards in London and Toronto 2017 and 2018.
“Nick has an amazing track record of success in turning small companies in to big ones, and in doing so, laying the foundations for some AUD$5.7 billion in returns”
Speaking on the appointment, Alice Queen Managing Director Andrew Buxton said: “We have known Nick for over five years now and he has always been very supportive of what we are trying to achieve at Alice Queen. Along the way he has always been generous with his time and mentoring.
This further step in formalising his appointment as Strategic Advisor means we now have a huge opportunity to further draw on his experience and know how.
Nick has an amazing track record of success in turning small companies in to big ones, and in doing so, laying the foundations for some AUD$5.7 billion in returns to the shareholders of those companies.
His depth of experience in contributing to the long-term growth of resources companies, from the ground up, over the past 30 years, will be invaluable to the board and we look forward to working more closely with him.”
Mr Mather has held a number of previous directorship roles including Non-Executive Director of Ballarat Goldfields, founder and Chairman of Toronto-listed Waratah Coal, co-founder of Northern Energy and Non-Executive Director of Orbis Gold.
Current roles include Managing Director of ASX-listed resources company creator DGR Global Limited, Chairman of Armour Energy and NewPeak Metals, and Director of Aus Tin Mining, Lakes Blue Energy and SolGold.
The company has stated that Mr Mather’s unique blend of corporate and technical skills will assist the board in adding ‘significant’ value to its portfolio of exploration assets.
